The apsaras or celestial nymphs, are sensuous, graceful females, clothed in sumptuous costumes and wearing elaborate jewels. They adorn the temple walls, most famously at Angkor Wat, and are amongst the most beautiful examples of relief carving. The figures who dance or fly are apsaras, while standing figures are referred to as devatas.

This stunning example is carved in exquisite detail, in hardwood, and measures 110cm high x 60cm wide x 4.5cm deep. Sold, but available to order.
